100+ Years Strong


The New Hope Missionary Baptist Association, Inc., an incorporated body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ was organized October 1918 at 12 Warren Street, Newark, New Jersey by five pastors and ministers; Rev. D.C. McCoy, Rev. Benjamin J. Kendricks, Rev. A. R. Ross, Rev. W. H. Culbreth, Rev. J. A. Caldwell, Rev. J. W. Spaulding, Rev. Adams, and Rev. Duncan.


Our Mission


The Mission of the Association :Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, develop a fellowship among neighboring churches, support home and foreign missions, develop an educational program and assist churches in need—remains so today. Having begun with a membership of five churches, the Association is presently forty-six churches strong.

Who We Are

New Hope MBA's superstructure consists of the Parent Body, Finance Department, Permanent Council, four Auxiliaries, seven Ministries and three Committees. Learn more about each of our Auxiliaries and Ministries below. During our 100+ years of ministry, we have had thirteen past moderators, with Rev. Paul M. Graves, Sr. now serving as our fourteenth moderator.


The Association is a participating member of the General Baptist Convention of New Jersey Inc.; National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Inc.; National Baptist Congress of Christian Education; National Foreign Mission Board; Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention; New England Baptist Convention; the Baptist World Alliance; Northern Baptist School of Religion; New York Theological Seminary and life member NAACP.
